When a foreign company pays you a dividend, its home country usually withholds tax before the money reaches you (withholding tax). Your own country may then tax the dividend again. Tax treaties between countries often reduce the withholding rate or let you deduct it, but sometimes only if you file a form or reclaim it.
What it means for yield
The dividend yield shown in the screener is before any tax. What you actually keep can be noticeably lower, especially for shares from countries with high withholding rates.
Check the rules
Your broker or national tax authority can tell you which rate applies and whether a refund is possible. This is general information, not tax advice.
